Shane Petzer

Brothers for Life

Shane runs an art gallery and a community arts project that makes chandeliers with recycled materials that sell worldwide. He lives in Barrydale, Western Cape. and has two daughters. He has been living with HIV for 15 years. His greatest fear was disclosing his status to his conservative Afrikaans family - especially his father, a priest. He was a founder of SWEAT, an organization that supports sex workers rights, and is active in LGBTI HIV support. He also works closely with communities in the Barrydale area, offering support and counseling to HIV positive people. @SexirReverend

About Us

Brothers for Life is a social and well-being movement aimed at mobilising men to take responsibility for their own health. We hope to achieve this by promoting positive male norms and encourage men to test for HIV and undergo Medical Male Circumcision (MMC), actively take a stand against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in their communities.
