Sibusiso Maphumolo

Mr Sibusiso Maphumulo is a 38 years old man from the village of Amahlongwa Mission, the home of late Professor Mazisi Kunene in Ugu District Municipality. He was diagnosed with HIV in 1999 during his matric year. Since knowing his status he disclosed to his family and community. He has worked tirelessly to inform and support people living with HIV in a range of jobs. He developed TB in 2011 and cured the disease through treatment adherence. Since then he never looked back and he is now healthier than ever before. When he is not counselling community members he is on the road, training for marathons. He was awarded with the Special Recognition Award-For Patient Advocacy and Support in the fight Against HIV and AIDS.

About Us

Brothers for Life is a social and well-being movement aimed at mobilising men to take responsibility for their own health. We hope to achieve this by promoting positive male norms and encourage men to test for HIV and undergo Medical Male Circumcision (MMC), actively take a stand against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in their communities.
